1. Phân tích đề, bố cục bài Describe your dream job

Describe your dream job. You should say:

• What it is?
• What it is like?
• What qualification you need for this job?
• And explain why you want to do this job

Với đề bài “Talk about your dream job” trong IELTS Speaking part 2, giám khảo sẽ mong muốn thí sinh mô tả về một nghề nghiệp mơ ước của họ. Đây là một trong những đề thường gặp trong phần thi nói, cũng như chủ đề phổ biến trong cuộc sống thường ngày, cho nên việc chuẩn bị trước vài ý tưởng sẽ giúp bạn dễ dàng tạo nên dàn ý dành cho bài nói của mình.

Các gợi ý thường sẽ ở trong phần “You should say” của cue card mà giám khảo cung cấp cho bạn. Ví dụ với cue card bên trên, ta sẽ có:

• What it is? – đó là nghề gì
• What it is like? – nghề đó bao gồm những việc gì
• What qualifications you need for this job? – trình độ chuyên môn cần có để làm được nghề đó
• And explain why you want to do this job – giải thích vì sao bạn thích, muốn làm nghề đó

Ngoài ra bạn còn có thể bổ sung các ý tưởng (không bắt buộc) như:

• Did someone inspire you? – Có ai đó truyền cảm hứng cho bạn?
• What do you hope to accomplish in this career? – bạn hy vọng sẽ đạt được điều gì khi làm công việc này
• What will you do to prepare for your career in the future? – Bạn sẽ làm gì để chuẩn bị cho nghề nghiệp của mình trong tương lai?

I’m a university student and I also work part-time as an English teaching assistant at a language center. My ideal occupation is to be a police officer. I think it’s a really noble profession because they risk their lives to protect the community and keep us safe. I have a lot of respect for their courage and commitment.

What I like about being a police officer is the excitement of solving crimes. I think it’s really interesting to investigate and figure out what happened. And the ability to ensure fairness and justice for everyone is something that really attracts me.

Some formal training in music and singing can be helpful, but it’s not always necessary. Besides having a good ear for music and being able to improvise on the spot, you will need to possess a strong sense of rhythm and be able to work well with other musicians. 

I think being a jazz singer is perfect for me because it combines my two passions: music and storytelling. I like being able to convey emotions through my singing, and to connect with the audience on a deeper level. I also love the fact that jazz music is always evolving, and that there’s always something new to learn and explore.

My dream job since primary school would be to work as a fashion designer. I’m really drawn to the creativity and self-expression involved in designing clothes, and I love the idea of bringing my ideas to life through fashion. When doing this job, my main responsibility would be to come up with new designs for clothing, accessories, and other fashion items. You know, I have always wanted to become an author of fantasy novels ever since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I was hyperlexic; you know, I knew how to read at the age of 5, and when I was 6, I devoured 200-page novels on a monthly basis. The art of discourse always fascinates me. – oh how I love the way writers shape and mould landscapes, anecdotes, mysteries or urban legends into beautifully and logically written lines. Dragons and dungeons run in my vein, and all too often I find myself sleep-talking about wizards and witchcrafts.

Back when I was still naïve, I thought all writers were rolling in money. Just look at how J.K Rowling earned easy money by sitting comfortably at a café, doing nothing but scribble on her notes! However, when I get older, I realized that I was dead wrong. There can only be one J. K. Rowling out there, and it takes years of practice, blood and tears to become a brilliant writer.
