How much time do you spend with your family?
I had been living distant from my family in the city center. When I return home on the weekends, I make an effort to spend the majority of the time with my parents. We simply inform ourselves about what is happening in our life.

Do you get along well with your family?
My family appreciate each other’s opinions and ways of living. Despite what may happen or how challenging the situation may be, we will always have each other’s backs. Even when things go wrong, which is a very rare occurrence, we recognize that making sacrifices for the family is a huge loss because they are the most important people in our lives. Overall, I get along well with my family, and we have a lot of great memories together.

What kind of things do you and your family do together?
We enjoy meals together as a family and talk about the events in our lives. We frequently host gatherings as a family, inviting friends and neighbours, and engaging in a variety of enjoyable activities. As a family, we recognize the value of spending time together.

Do you prefer to spend time with your family or with your friends?
I’m not sure. I occasionally like to get out with my friends because we have a lot in common and can easily come up with conversation starters. Yet, when I’m around my family, I can sense their love, which makes me feel secure and at ease.

Describe a time when you felt proud of a family member.
You should say:
- Who the person is:
- When it happened
- What the person did
- And explain why you felt proud of him/her.
I want to share with you the moment my mother made the decision to launch her own business. Even though my mother is now in her forties, she remains attractive. She is a mother who constantly looks out for her kids and is incredibly compassionate, kind, and attentive. She is both a mother and a friend to me since she always offers me sage advice and is ready to support me through all of the highs and lows in my life. She is such a strong-willed person, which is why I am so proud of her.
Since my grandparents were often on the go, she had to learn how to deal with difficulties on her own from a young age. I imagine that her difficult childhood helped to shape who she is now. While she was in her forties, she made the decision that she wanted to operate her own clothing boutique. As we all believed it was a pretty bad idea because she would face a lot of competition from other surrounding shops, all of the family members attempted to prevent her from doing it.
Yet thanks to her tenacity and endurance, she was able to succeed in building her company, which is an example for us all to follow. and I keep telling myself to strive to be as resilient as my mother, a true “wonder woman,” every day.

In a typical Vietnamese family, who plays the leading role?
There is a saying that states, “Men construct the house, but women make it home.” Despite the fact that women are no longer prejudiced against, I believe this is still relevant today, at least in my nation. While it’s true that more and more women are taking on the role of the family breadwinner and that certain men today are more likely to become househusbands, I believe that in the normal Vietnamese family, men still hold the position of authority.

How has the role of elderly people in the family changed recently?
In recent years, the roles of husbands and wives have changed. The tendency to have fewer children is another development, in my opinion. Due to the high cost of living and favorable professional prospects, parents today consider having smaller families.

Who do you think should be responsible for the care of the elderly, the family or the government?
My opinion is that the family must be involved. Because being in a family is the foundation of who we are, each family is accountable for caring for its own elderly. If families quit taking care of their elderly members, then all social norms should be ignored. In addition, other issues merit the government’s attention more.
