Sample
You should say:
- What activity it is
- When and where you do this
- Who you do it with
- And explain why you enjoy doing it.
Today, I would like to share with you a little pricey activity that I enjoy doing sometimes. It would be shopping. As a shopaholic, I always splurge out on new clothes. Honestly, I only got this hobby when I graduated from university and got a well-paid job. When I was in local shopping malls, I went on a shopping spree, including new clothes, cosmetics, and other grooming products. Sometimes, because of hearing alluring and misleading advertisements, I bought some items that weren’t necessary and useful at all and I had to throw them away immediately when coming back home. As I often paid through the nose, I was often on a tight budget. But now, somehow, I could say that I am a wiser buyer, I often carefully make a list of necessary things before going shopping. Through that, I can save a great amount of money, I haven’t made any unnecessary purchases recently. And now, I don’t have the interest in buying high-end products which often cost an arm and a leg anymore, because I have to save for a rainy day.

Part 3: Buying expensive things
1. What kind of expensive things do people like to buy?
I think it varies from person to person. Some people fancy designer clothes, watchers or bags, which can be prohibitively expensive. Others are keen on catching up with the latest technology trend, so technological gadgets like mobile phones and cars and motorcycles are things they frequently replace. In my opinion, this is not necessarily a bad thing unless it impacts their experience as the purchaser. If the product is less useful, less effective, or doesn’t even achieve the intended purpose, this is a clear sign that it’s time to bite the bullet and buy the real deal.
- Designer (n) clothes: quần áo thiết kế
- Prohibitively expensive: cực kỳ đắt đỏ
2. What is the difference between men and women buying things?
Men and women shop in very different ways, which should come as no surprise. It is believed that women spend more time shopping than men, who simply walk into a store, look for a specific product, buy it as quickly as possible and then leave. Women, on the other hand, patiently search for the type of product in all available brands, compare the designs, check for any available offers, bargain, and ultimately purchase the product to their complete satisfaction. Therefore it can even take a whole day for women to actually finish their shopping.
- Come as no surprise: Không có gì bất ngờ
- Take + period of time: chiếm bao nhiêu thời gian
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rich?
Self-determination is at the luxury end of the hierarchy of needs. And when you’re very wealthy, within reason you can do what you want, where you want, when you want, and a lot of the time with who you want. As a result, you can prioritize your wants and needs over anything else, while less advantageous people sometimes have to sacrifice a lot for money. However, the thing is rich people still get depressed very easily, just like the middle classes. There’s no evidence that money actually makes you unhappy, but it could distract you from fixing your real problems in life, including your relationships with others.
- Wealthy (adj): giàu có
- Wants and needs: những nhu cầu
- Distract (v): gây xao nhãng
4. Why are some sports expensive? Are they for everyone?
Some of the sports, especially adventure sports, are expensive because they require licenses, professional training and expensive safety equipment. Tickets to professional sporting events are sometimes expensive for numerous reasons, including the rise in professional sports players’ salaries and the construction of expensive arenas. So overall, I don’t think everyone can afford such expensive services and sport lovers can always go for more affordable alternatives.
