The graph below shows the production levels of main kinds of fuel in the UK from 1981 to 2000.

Đoạn tổng quan: Nhìn chung, mặc dù có sự dao động đáng kể, dầu mỏ vẫn là nguồn năng lượng quan trọng nhất trong quốc gia này. Ngoài ra, trong khi sử dụng than đá giảm tương đối ổn định, khí tự nhiên lại có sự tăng sản xuất đáng kể trong 6 năm cuối kỳ.

Về dầu mỏ, gần 100 tấn của nguồn năng lượng này đã được sử dụng vào năm 1981, sau đó mức tiêu thụ tăng đáng kể lên 130 tấn vào năm 1983. Dầu mỏ sau đó duy trì ổn định trong quá trình tiêu thụ giữa năm 1983 và 1987, cũng như giữa năm 1995 và 2000, trong khi sử dụng giảm xuống dưới 100 tấn vào giai đoạn từ năm 1989 đến 1992. The line graph illustrates how much three fuel sources were consumed in a country in Europe between 1981 and 2000. 

Overall, despite significant fluctuation, petroleum remained the most important energy source in this country. Additionally, while the use of coal dropped relatively steadily, natural gas saw production rise significantly in the last 6 years of the period. 

Regarding petroleum, almost 100 tonnes of this source of energy was used in 1981, after which consumption rose considerably to 130 tonnes in 1983. Petroleum then saw a stability in its consumption between 1983 and 1987, and between 1995 and 2000, while its use dropped to just under 100 tonnes between 1989 and 1992.

Turning next to coal and natural gas, the consumption of coal stayed at 80 tonnes in the first three years of the period, and then plummeted to about 50 tonnes. Despite rising back up to just over 70 tonnes two years later, coal consumption fell progressively, to just under 40 tonnes in 2000. By contrast, the amount of natural gas consumed leveled off at 40 tonnes for the majority of the period before rising significantly to just over 80 tonnes in the final year.

IELTS Writing task 2

In some countries, university students live at home, while in other countries university students go to other cities rather than live with their family. Do you think the benefits of living away from home outweigh the disadvantages?

Topic Sentence: The drawbacks are outweighed by the benefits, including self-reliance, career opportunities, and personal growth. Supporting Ideas: – Digital Communication: Technology mitigates the emotional toll by facilitating easy communication with family members. – Self-Reliance: Living independently encourages the development of self-reliance and essential life skills. – Career Opportunities: Access to better career opportunities, higher-paying positions, and more growth prospects in urban areas.

Bước 3: Hoàn thành bài luận

While some students pursuing tertiary education still live with their family, others relocate to urban areas, residing some distance away from their hometown. Although there are certain drawbacks, I believe that such a relocation is predominantly advantageous. 

On the one hand, the disadvantages of living far away from family members are evident. Firstly, separation from beloved ones, especially close family members and friends, can be emotionally taxing. Most students at this age have spent nearly their entire life being surrounded by the unconditional love, care and affection of their parents, and such a sudden experience of living on their own can inevitably lead to feelings of loneliness, homesickness, and sadness. Secondly, being away from one’s support system can be problematic during difficult times, such as illness, personal crises, or emergencies. The absence of close family and friends can lead to a lack of emotional and practical support. Finally, those relocating to another place often incur significant financial costs in the form of transportation, accommodation, and setting up a new household. These expenses can be burdensome, especially for those on a tight budget.

On the other hand, I believe that these disadvantages pale in comparison with the benefits that these students are about to gain. Although an independent lifestyle can result in a sense of isolation, nowadays with the advent of digital communication tools, it is easy to make voice calls or even video calls with close family members, regardless of geographical constraints, thus reducing the feeling of loneliness. In addition, while it is true that students living on their own have to support and care for themselves during hard times, this encourages self-reliance, self-sufficiency and the development of essential life skills, all of which are valuable traits that are of great benefit to their future life. Moreover, moving to new urban areas can provide access to better career opportunities, higher-paying positions, and more growth prospects, allowing individuals to advance their careers and gain valuable experience that is hardly found in their rural hometown. 

In conclusion, despite some of the drawbacks that students who go to other cities rather than live with their family may have to encounter, these problems can generally be resolved, and are overshadowed by the tremendous benefits gained.
