1. What kinds of flowers do you know?  

I’m not that knowledgeable about flowers but I could at least recognize different kinds of roses and daisies. They’re ubiquitous in Vietnam.

• knowledgeable (adj) + about: có nhiều hiểu biết
• ubiquitous (adj): thường gặp

2. Are there any flowers that have special meanings in your country? 

Yes, there are a few that have symbolic meanings. Off the top of my head, at “Vu Lan” festival, which is on the full moon of the seventh month in the lunar calendar. People wear roses on their shirts, red ones for those whose parents are still alive and white ones for people who have lost their parents, to show their love for their father and mother.

• off the top of my head: theo tôi biết (ý muốn nói có nhiều ví dụ hơn nhưng đây là ví dụ đầu tiền xuất hiện trong đầu)
• Full moon (n): ngày rằm

3. Have you planted any flowers?  

Unfortunately not yet, I considered myself a clumsy person and I’ve been afraid that my clumsiness and negligence would kill the plant. I wish this would change soon, though.

• negligence (n): sự thiếu quan tâm

4. Have you sent flowers to anyone?

Yes, it is customary for students to send flowers to their teachers on the Vietnam’s Teachers’ day which is on November 20th every year. So for a long time, I’ve been giving flowers to my teachers and sometimes my friends and I would all chip in to get a big bouquet. 

• customary (adj): thông thường, theo lệ
• to chip in: hùn tiền
• bouquet (n): bó hóa
