The graph below shows the average retirement age of males and females in six countries in 2003.

Có thể nhận thấy rằng thời gian làm việc lâu nhất cho cả nam và nữ có thể quan sát được tại Hàn Quốc. Độ tuổi nghỉ hưu trung bình của nam giới Hàn Quốc là 68 năm và 8 tháng, trong khi nữ giới nghỉ hưu, trung bình, sớm hơn 18 tháng. Tiếp theo gần về mặt độ tuổi rời khỏi công việc và dừng làm việc là Australia, Hoa Kỳ và Nhật Bản, với các con số không khác biệt đáng kể. Đối với nam giới, độ tuổi nghỉ hưu của họ dao động từ 64 năm và một tháng đến 67 năm và bốn tháng, trong khi đối với phụ nữ, nó biến động nhẹ giữa 63 năm và 5 tháng và 66 năm và 9 tháng. Đáng chú ý, trong số các quốc gia này, Australia có dữ liệu ghi nhận thấp nhất, trong khi Nhật Bản ghi nhận số lượng độ tuổi nghỉ hưu lớn nhất.

The table gives information about the age at which men and women of six countries retired in the year 2003. 

Overall, across all given countries, the retirement age of men was marginally higher than that of women, and both male and female Koreans retired at a later age compared to people from other countries. 

It is noticeable that the longest duration of employment for both genders can be observed in Korea. The average retirement age for Korean males was 68 years and 8 months, while their female counterparts retired, on average, 18 months earlier. Following closely in terms of the ages of leaving a job and stopping working were Australia, the USA, and Japan, whose figures were not significantly different.

As for men, their retirement age ranged from 64 years and a month to 67 years and four months, while for women, it fluctuated mildly between 63 years and 5 months and 66 years and 9 months. Notably, among these countries, Australia had the lowest recorded data, while the greatest number of retirement ages were seen in Japan. 

Conversely, Italy and France exhibit comparatively lower retirement ages. The average retirement ages of Italian males and females were 58 years and 57 years respectively. . In France, the retirement age was the lowest, with men retiring at 57 years and 4 months as opposed to women at 56 years and 9 months.

IELTS Writing task 2

Some people suggest that the government should spend money putting more works of art like paintings and statues into towns and cities to make them attractive places. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Public art may be perceived as a luxury, serving mainly aesthetic purposes.	Topic Sentence: Public art brings significant economic benefits and enriches cultural identity. Supporting Ideas: Economic benefits include attracting tourists, businesses, and investors, leading to local economic development and job creation. Public art contributes to shaping the cultural identity of a community, fostering pride and appreciation for cultural diversity.

Bước 3: Hoàn thành bài luận

It is believed by some that governments should allocate funds to install more works of art, such as paintings and statues, in towns and cities to enhance their attractiveness. Although there are certain arguments against this viewpoint, I believe that such an initiative should be put into practice. 

On the one hand, opponents argue that more practical and immediate needs, such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare should receive greater allocation of the national budget, which is often limited in most countries around the world.

Obviously, these areas are vital for a country to function well and have a direct impact on the well-being and livelihood of citizens, whereas art may be considered as a kind of luxury that serves the sole purpose of enhancing the aesthetic appeal of a city. 

However, the economic benefits that public art brings to a country should not be downplayed. Sculptures or statues can turn towns and cities into vibrant and culturally rich spaces, and such aesthetically pleasing cities are more likely to not only boost tourist activities but also attract businesses and investors, thus contributing to the development of the local economy and generating more employment opportunities.

In this way, the indirect economic advantages of public art can offset its initial costs and contribute to the overall prosperity of citizens’ life.  

Moreover, public art functions as a vehicle for expressing and enriching culture. When governments integrate a variety of artistic expressions into public spaces, they actively contribute to shaping the cultural identity of a community. This exposure to a range of art forms serves as an educational and inspirational experience for residents, nurturing feelings of pride and fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity.

In conclusion, while there are reasonable concerns related to the allocation of limited resources, the benefits of public art in enhancing the cultural and economic fabric of a community are adequate compensation for the initial costs involved in setting up art projects in cities and towns.
