IELTS Writing Task 1
|The following chart illustrates the results of a British survey taken in 2005 related to Housing preferences of UK people.
The provided bar graph depicts statistics on UK people’ housing preferences, which were gathered as part of a 2005 poll.
According to the research, the majority of London residents favoured flats, whilst individuals in Oxford and Cambridge favoured detached and semi-detached houses.
According to the bar graph, around a half of London residents chose flats, but fewer than 30% of Oxford and Cambridge residents picked flats as their dwelling. Surprisingly, terrace houses were favoured by a comparable number of individuals in all three locations, ranging between 15 and 18%. The least desired housing type for London residents was detached homes, which were liked by less than 10% of London residents, although this housing type was favoured by around a quarter of Oxford residents and 35% of Cambridge residents. Finally, semi-detached houses were favoured by residents in Oxford and Cambridge (around 27%), while only 17% of respondents in London liked this type of dwelling.
IELTS Writing Task 2
|The increasing housing problem in big cities has social consequences. Some people say that only government can solve this problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that a lack of living space in a congested city can have far-reaching consequences. As a result, governments are tasked with coming up with a viable and appropriate remedy. I totally agree that mitigating these issues is a rule duty which would be subjected to discussion during the course of this essay.
Obviously, as the population grows, people are compelled to live in overcrowded regions, lowering their level of living. In other words, this phenomenon significantly reduces one’s quality of life. In particular, inhibitors confront security difficulties because, with packed streets, the crime rate rises and cannot be controlled by individuals or society, therefore authorities must take steps, such as increased police units and the installation of surveillance cameras, to address this issue. Furthermore, there is an increase in rubbish output and air pollution produced by traffic in these areas, resulting in worsening environmental conditions.
Moreover, to evade the situation, families prefer to live in the suburbs, away from the main cities. These not only deprive them of basic facilities such as hospitals, which are mostly situated in the centre but also generate mobilisation problems. For instance, it takes approximately one hour for commuters to reach the workplace from the outskirts for jobs. Communities cannot provide such facilities because of limited resources. As a result, the government has to construct amenities for families living on the far side according to the requirements. Furthermore, an efficient traffic system needs to be established to resolve travel issues.
In conclusion, while societal difficulties arise in densely populated cities, efficient government policies and procedures can assist in resolving these issues for the welfare of society and an increase in living standards.
