I want to talk about this advertisement since it irritates me so much. It is for this brand-new energy drink that is designed to keep you alert and energized. But in all honesty, I just want to switch the channel whenever I see the advertisement.

The first image in the commercial is of a man who appears to be about to nod off at work. He appears to be under a lot of stress despite being surrounded by so many documents. He then consumes this energy drink, which gives him an instant boost of vitality and productivity. Of course, he amazes and impresses everyone in his vicinity.

But this advertisement’s extreme realism truly gets under my skin. Since I’ve tried them previously, I know that they don’t instantly transform me into a superhuman. And it’s absurd to think that you can simply drink this beverage and instantly become more productive. It creates the illusion that you may achieve success with little to no actual effort.

The advertisement also seems incredibly false to me. Although the performers are all grinning and seem joyful, it is clear that they are really acting. Additionally, they seem to be trying to persuade you that the energy drink is the best thing ever by using such inflated language when discussing it. However, I don’t buy it.

Overall, I just find this advertisement to be really obnoxious and deceptive. It’s attempting to sell you a product by setting up erroneous expectations and making misleading promises. Instead of trying to deceive consumers into purchasing their items, I believe advertisements should be more upfront and honest about what their products can genuinely do.

What kind of things advertise most in your country?

The most popular kinds of advertising in my nation are social media ads, billboards, and television commercials. Additionally, businesses utilize influencers to advertise their goods on websites like Facebook and Instagram. In my nation, radio advertisements as well as print advertisements in magazines and newspapers are still widely used.

  • Social media ads (n): quảng cáo trên mạng xã hội
  • Billboards (n): biển quảng cáo
  • Television commercials (n): quảng cáo trên ti vi
  • Influencers (n): những người có sức ảnh hưởng
  • Print advertisements (n): quảng cáo trên hình thức giấy in

Which one is more effective: newspaper advertising or online advertising?

It actually relies on the target market and the type of the marketed good or service. I’m referring to the fact that newspaper advertising can be successful in attracting older audiences who still favor print media, whereas online advertising may be more successful in attracting younger, tech-savvy audiences. Having said that, online advertising is growing more and more significant in today’s society as digital media gain prominence.

  • Target market (n): thị trường hướng tới
  • Tech-savvy (adj): am hiểu công nghệ cao
  • Prominence (n): sự nổi bật

What are the benefits of advertising?

First off, promoting their merchant‘s goods and services can broaden their consumer base. Additionally, they can advertise the products’ features or advantages, which will help people learn more about their standing in society. For instance, if the business may highlight some of the user reviews of a particular product, like a medication that drastically modifies or enhances a user’s health.

Unquestionably, a sizable number of people will test their product. Finally, when they build up and outperform their rivals, they can produce more income. I believe that too much exposure to a brand in society might draw people in and keep them interested.

  • Merchant (n): người buôn bán
  • Broaden sb’s consumer base: mở rộng cơ sở tiêu dùng
  • Drastically (adv): một cách quyết liệt

What do you think of celebrity endorsements in advertising?

I can think of one way it might change the brand’s reputation. There is no doubt that using celebrities to promote their products helps increase sales. Undoubtedly, the vast majority of their ardent supporters will buy the products they recommend because they want to look like their heroes. As a result, it will enable the business to make quick money.

Additionally, it will raise the brand’s worth. Due to the fact that it was created and is being promoted by a well-known influencer they can trust, people won’t assume it to be a low-quality and ineffective product. If it’s ineffective, superstars will have terrible encounters with their followers. Of course, it also aids in recall and memory of the advertised brands. For instance, they only need to mention the cashier the name of the artist when they go to the store to be able to buy the item even though they forget its name.

  • Reputation (n): danh tiếng
  • Celebrities (n): người nổi tiếng
  • Ardent (adj): hăng hái
  • Cashier (n): thu ngân

Does advertising encourage us to buy things we don’t need?

It depends on the various traits that make up an individual. On the one hand, some people have a shopping or product addiction. The majority of individuals, in my opinion, think that advertisements inspire and encourage them to try on such goods. They find the things fascinating and captivating after getting a glance of them, whether online or in a television commercial, despite the fact that they are aware that they won’t be useful in their daily life. Maybe this will satisfy their interest and desire.

On the other hand, some individuals are practical in nature. For them, it is always important to get items that they can use and that are both practical and significant. There are certain types of people that won’t waste money on things they don’t need. For instance, they might list a few goods and make note of their quality and the number they need to purchase before heading to a mall to shop. In a nutshell, different people view advertising and shopping from different angles.

  • Practical (adj): thực tế
  • In a nutshell: tóm lại
