2.1. Why do you think people go to restaurants when they want to celebrate something?
I think it is mainly because people want a change of scene. Ya know, people in Vietnam normally having meals at home. So, on some special occasion, like birthday, people tend to throw parties at restaurants where cater “globally inspired” food. Moreover, having meals in restaurants, people don’t need to waste time on preparing ingredients and they also don’t need to wash all the plates, bowls afterwards.
2.2. Which are more popular in your country: fast food restaurants or tradition restaurants?
I think, in Vietnam, the popularity of these 2 kinds of restaurants is in equal measure. People will go to fast food restaurants on a daily basis because these restaurants are easily accessible to people. Restaurants can be located in small-scale street vendors or in food carts and because of the speed of service, people can enter these restaurants to grab a quick bite when they are in hurry.
However, on some special occasions like birthdays or celebrating some memorable moments, people tend to have meals in conventional ones, especially family-style restaurants which often offer a lengthy menu which a wide range of food selection. People can consume quality food at an affordable price and enjoy a cozy and elegant ambience and good services.
2.3. Some people say that food in an expensive restaurant is always better than food in a cheap restaurant – would you agree?
I totally disagree with this idea. I think this idea mainly stems from the work-of-mouth advertising campaigns of these restaurants. We can easily consume numerous tasty dishes in Vietnamese markets at a more affordable price. Sometimes, food served in markets is more appetizing than food served inexpensive restaurants.
Food served inexpensive restaurants can be made from upmarket ingredients and people also can enjoy dining experiences in these restaurants that may charge a lot of money, but in terms of the taste and texture of the food, I don’t think it can be better than that in several markets in Vietnam.
2.4. What kinds of restaurants are popular in your country?
In my country, a wide variety of restaurants are popular, catering to diverse tastes. Traditional eateries serving local cuisine, such as pho or spring rolls, are quite common and loved by locals and tourists alike. Fast food chains, offering international options like burgers and pizza, are also widely frequented, especially among the younger generation.
Furthermore, fine dining restaurants, specializing in both local and international gourmet dishes, are popular for special occasions or upscale dining experiences. Street food vendors are a significant part of our food culture, providing affordable and delicious options for quick, on-the-go meals. So, it’s safe to say that the restaurant scene in my country is both vibrant and diverse.
Yes, people in my country often socialize in restaurants. It’s a common practice to meet friends, family, or colleagues in restaurants for various occasions. Whether it’s a casual get-together, a celebration, a business meeting, or just a simple meal with loved ones, restaurants provide a comfortable and social setting for interactions. Dining out is not just about enjoying the food; it’s also a way to connect with others and spend quality time together.
