IELTS Speaking Part 1 chủ đề Law and Crime
Do you walk alone at night in your home city?
I never feel completely safe when walking anywhere alone at night. Even though I’m currently living in a crowded city like Ho Chi Minh city, there are still certain “dark corners” that people, especially women, should never wander after the sun sets.
- Dark corner (n): những góc (phố) tối
- To wander (v): đi lang thang, bén mảng đến
What do you think about shoplifting?
A thief, of course, should be punished. Whether you steal a candy bar or a television, shoplifting is a crime. Regardless of how much money you believe the store owners have, stealing hurts them. A shoplifter is a thief. People who steal are untrustworthy and have no regard for anyone but themselves.
- Regardless: bất kể
- Shoplifter (n): thích đáng, phù hợp
- Untrustworthy (adj): các trường giáo dưỡng
- Regard (n): dịch vụ công ích
Is the city where you are living a safe place?
In general, no town or city is completely safe. However, as you might expect, not all cities are overrun with crime. It would be prudent not to wander around cities at dawn, as this is when the majority of crime occurs. If you’re out walking at night, just be aware of your surroundings. Overall, Ho Chi Minh City – my hometown is fantastic, and you will most likely enjoy your visit.
- To be overrun (v): tràn ngập
- Prudent (adj): khôn ngoan
- To occur (v): xảy ra
Are there any places you are afraid to visit because of the high crime rate?
It would be Venezuela, indeed. This country, according to the information that I’ve read in newspapers, has the highest crime index of any country in the world. Venezuela’s crime rates have been blamed on a variety of factors, including government corruption, a faulty judiciary system, and a breakdown in the Rule of Law. So, although enjoying the wonderful natural scenery in this country, I will still have to think twice before deciding to travel here.
- Indeed (adv): hiển nhiên
- Index (n): chỉ số
- Judiciary system (n): hệ thống tư pháp
- Breakdown (n): sự cố
- To think twice (v): suy nghĩ lại lần hai – nghĩ đi nghĩ lại, cân nhắc kỹ càng
