1. Do you often sing?

Yes! I sing almost everyday because I love singing. I would say it is one of my favorite activities to do in life.

2. When do you like to sing?

This is gonna sound embarrassing but I do most of my singing when I’m taking a shower. Since my bathroom is soundproof, I can sing to my heart’s content when I’m in there.

  • Soundproof (adj): cách âm

3. Is it difficult to sing well?

I’m afraid that singing well is a rare talent. It’s pretty hard to hit the correct note all the time or to  hold the right tempo, maybe that’s why not many people can be professional singers.

4. Do you want to be a singer?

Although I know I can never be a pop star, at the back of my mind I secretly want to be a singer. Well, I think the reason is I love attention and I want people to applaud me and give me compliments.

  • At the back of my mind (expression): trong tâm trí tôi

5. What kinds of music do you like to sing?

My voice is rather deep so I definitely sound better when I sing slow and romantic ballads. Another genre that I’d love  to try is Jazz. I listen to it a lot, but I’ve never sung any Jazz song.

  • Deep (adj): trầm (khi miêu tả giọng nói)

6. Who do you want to sing for?

Well, the majority of the time, I sing solely for my own enjoyment. The sole exception to this rule is my dear friends, who are remarkably tolerant of my less-than-stellar vocal abilities. During our virtual karaoke nights, they endure my voice, which frequently loses its breath and falters on high notes.

Apart from these occasions, I would never subject myself to singing in public, as it’s undeniably the most embarrassing experience in the world.

  • Tolerant of: khoan dung

7. Have you ever learnt how to sing?

Indeed, I did receive music instruction throughout my primary and secondary school years. Nevertheless, given the opportunity, I would certainly consider enrolling in another singing class. I’ve been informed that my sense of rhythm was lacking, so I hold out hope that, someday, I’ll shed this tone-deafness and become more proficient at hitting the correct notes.

  • Tone-deafness: điếc giọng

8. Do you think singing can bring happiness to people?

Without a doubt, music has a profound impact on our well-being. Even the simple act of humming or whistling has the power to elevate one’s mood. If my memory serves me correctly, there’s a concept of a “feel-good” chemical released in the human brain when we sing, particularly in a group setting.

Music is known to alleviate stress and anxiety. I can hardly fathom a world devoid of music, melody, and harmonious notes it would be a monotonous and frightening existence.

  • Feel-good: cám thấy tốt
  • Brain: não
  • Harmonious: hài hòa

9. Will you take singing lessons in the future?

I would have to say that I’ve never once entertained the idea of taking singing lessons, not even in my most far-fetched dreams. It’s at the bottom of my list of priorities. While this might make me seem like a pessimistic individual to some, from my personal perspective, I consider voice lessons to be somewhat irrelevant to my career.

I prefer to invest my time and resources in activities that directly contribute to my professional advancement, helping me ascend the corporate ladder.

  • Far-fetched dreams: giấc mơ xa vời
  • Pessimistic: bi quan
  • Corporate ladder: thang công ty

10. Have you ever learnt to sing?

As passionate as I am about singing, I must admit that my lack of a good singing voice has prevented me from receiving formal training from any institutions. However, I don’t have a strong inclination to pursue a career in show business, so I don’t see the wisdom in enrolling in singing courses at this moment.
