If you have other friends who are also into playing sports as a way to wind down, yes! Make sure that you and your friends don’t become competitive.
Do you think you need more time to relax?
Definitely, I have work and study virtually every day a week. I try to take a nap whenever I can to help me to retain my strength throughout the day.
What are some common ways to relax in your country?
We have a big coffee-drinking culture and going to cafés is the most popular way to spend your free time and relax. Some other people enjoy going shopping. And among busy young people, playing video games is their go-to activity.

I’m going to describe a fictional character from a Korean legal drama called “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”. Her name is Woo Young Woo and she’s the protagonist of this series.
The series follows through her journey as a novice lawyer. The word “extraordinary” in the title also alludes to the fact that she is on the autism disorder spectrum and her condition makes her different from an ordinary lawyer. Her condition makes her daily interaction with people difficult. For example, she finds it hard to maintain eye contact with others. Her appearance in this series is quite unique, she has a rather small stature and usually wears a thick jacket and midi skirt. When walking, she always wears noise canceling headphones because she can’t handle loud noises.
However, she’s a brilliant lawyer who has photographic memory and encyclopaedic knowledge about the law. She often combines these abilities with her out-of-the-box thinking when she approaches a court case, which leads to ingenious solutions for the problems she encounters as a lawyer.
Particularly, one time she had to represent her best friend’s father in court, who was tricked by his own two brothers to sign a gift contract that would leave him in severe debt. However, it was hard to find evidence for trickery. Then, she remembered that the Korean law stated that if recipients of a gift assault the giver, any gift contract could be nullified and consulted her best friend’s family. Through a series of events, they were able to prove the two brothers had attacked the father and won the case.

- Encyclopedic knowledge: kiến thức khổng lồ. Note: ý là so sách lượng kiến thức nhiều như trong bách khoa toàn thư/ encyclopaedia
- Ingenious (adj): tài tình
- Debt (n): khoản nợ. Note phát âm: chữ “b” không được phát âm
- Assault (v): hành hung
→ Đề bài yêu cầu thí sinh phải tả một người có những ý nghĩ/ý kiến thú vị. Là dạng tả người, bạn có thể thoải mái lựa chọn người thân, thầy cô giáo, nhà phát minh, nhân vật nổi tiếng hoặc thậm chí nhân vật hư cấu như trong bài.
Bạn nên dành một phần để tả ngoại hình/tính cách của người này nhưng vẫn phải chú trọng việc làm cho giám khảo thấy đây là một người có những suy nghĩ thú vị. Ví dụ, bạn có thể kể một câu chuyện ngắn trong đó người bạn kể gặp một khó khăn và dùng mưu trí để vượt qua, hay người bạn kể thương hay có những câu nói/ cách nhìn nhận cuộc sống một cách thú vị. Một số từ vựng chủ đề mà bạn có thể sử dụng để làm nổi bật người này:
- Ingenuity (n): sự tài tình , ingenious (adj): tài tình → Many teachers in school often praise her for her ingenuity.
- To think outside the box: suy nghĩ khác lạ, không theo số đông → He’s well-known as a person who always thinks outside the box
- Original (adj): liên quan đến nguồn gốc, đầu tiên. → Her ideas are always original
- Clever (adj): thông minh → He has clever solutions for difficult math problems.

IELTS Speaking Part 3: Ideas
1. When do children start to have their own ideas?
This is a difficult question for me, because I’m not trained in Psychology. However, I’ll give you my best guess based on my own experience. My earliest memory is from when I was three years old. I was asking my mom to buy me a toy as we walked past a toy store. I don’t remember the aftermath of that story, but my takeaway from it is that I had my own thinking since I was three. So that is my answer.

- Takeaway (n): kết luận, bài học rút ra
→ Câu hỏi yêu cầu thí sinh nêu ra thời điểm khi nào trẻ em bắt đầu có suy nghĩ riêng. Người trả lời có thể dựa vào câu trả lời gợi ý, vì đây là câu hỏi chủ đề lạ và khó nên đưa ra nhận định về câu hỏi khó vì vậy phải dựa vào kinh nghiệm cá nhân để trả lời. Sau đó đưa ra một mốc thời gian cụ thể, nêu lí do.
2. Who do you think has more influence on children’s ideas, their parents or their teachers?
Hmm, interesting question. I’d say it’s likely that the parents shape their children’s ideas and world views more than the teachers. The reason is simple! Each parent usually has to raise one to two children, whereas teachers in school often have dozens of students to cater for. Naturally, parents have more time to talk to and make an impact on their children’s thinking.
- It is likely that + clause: khả năng cao là
- To shape (v): hình thành
- To cater for: quan tâm chăm sóc
→ Câu hỏi yêu cầu thí sinh nêu nhận định giữa cha mẹ và giáo viên ai là người ảnh hưởng đến cách suy nghĩ của trẻ em. Như câu trả lời gợi ý, bạn có thể đưa nhận định của mình đầu tiên rồi nêu lí do chính (do cha mẹ dành thời gian nhiều hơn vì chỉ phải lo cho 1-2 người con nên có thời gian nói chuyện với con nhiều trong khi giáo viên có nhiều trẻ em phải quan tâm). Lưu ý là trả lời cha mẹ hay giáo viên đều được, quan trọng là cách diễn đạt rõ ràng.

3. What are the benefits when children have their own ideas/opinions?
Being able to think independently is very valuable for a child. When encouraged, it could set up a lifetime of success for him or her. Society has always valued original thinkers. In recent years, we have also made it easier for children to pursue their ideas. I’m sure you’ve seen a new wave of child entrepreneurs, child inventors, and so on.
- To value (v): đánh giá cao
- To pursue (v): theo đuổi
→ Câu hỏi yêu cầu thí sinh nêu ra những lợi ích của việc trẻ em có ý tưởng/ý kiến riêng. Thí sinh nên nêu lợi ích cụ thế (được đánh giá cao khi xét duyệt học bổng, trẻ em được tự do phát triển, …). Sau đó nêu lí do và dẫn chứng cụ thể.
