Are there a lot of young artists in your country?
Yeah, I’d say so. I’ve seen so many up and coming artists in recent years partly thanks to social media and reality shows. And if you go to squares and walking streets, you’ll find many buskers as well.

Do you think it’s good for children to have a reputation at a young age?
Well, chances are most children can’t fully grasp the concept of “reputation”. Even so, it’s a good idea to teach them to be honest, to keep their words and to apologise when they make a mistake.

What are some popular platforms/ channels for these youngsters to shine?
Like I’ve mentioned, reality shows like talent shows and singing contests are places where talented youths are found. They can also showcase their talents on social media websites such as Tiktok or Youtube.

IELTS Speaking Part 2: Describe an invention that changed people’s lives

And explain how it changed people’s lives
When it comes to revolutionary technology, I often think of recent ones that I have been personally affected by. So, I’m going to talk about the Internet because I still remember the time that I didn’t have instant access to it.
I’m not versed enough about how it works to describe it technically. All I knew was that my mum paid for an Internet provider, and they came to our house to set up a router and some cables. After that, we could use our computers to browse the websites.
When I first got access to the internet, I was thrilled with the variety of services and activities I could get online. Watching videos and listening to music on Youtube were a big part of my childhood. Like many others, I made social media accounts to talk to my friends. Before this, I had to ask my mom permission to use the landline and it had been really inconvenient.
Fast forward to today, during the recent covid-19 pandemic, the Internet really prove its importance. At a time when people had to literally keep their distance. The Internet served at the tool by which people used to spread news and government issued important statements online as well. Many activities such as teaching and learning, and meetings were held online on video conference calls, and this helped life to go on and kept the economy alive.
I think it’s safe to say that the Internet has become an integral part of our lives.

→ Miêu tả một phát minh làm thay đổi cuộc sống của mọi người. Nếu bạn tả một vật khó có thể miêu tả về hình thức thì nên tập trung nhiều vào chức năng của vật này. Mọi người dùng nó để làm việc gì? Khi nào? Ở đâu? Hãy liên hệ đến bản thân.
Một chi tiết quan trọng là bạn phải nói rõ vì sao nó thay đổi cuộc sống của mọi người, có thể dùng biện pháp so sánh quá khứ và hiện tại.

1. How can technology make our life easier?
We can see the influence of technology in many aspects of our lives. First, the application of machines in agriculture has undoubtedly increased crop yield in many places. This means humanity can have better food security and many poor countries can produce food for a cheaper price. In terms of education, many years ago, we didn’t use to have video conferences so online classes were virtually impossible. Now people can attend classes whose lecturers could be in another country. This is a game changer for students who are physically impaired.

- Food security (n): an ninh lương thực (có đủ thức ăn)

- Virtually (adj): hầu hết
- A game changer: nghĩa đen: thứ làm thay đổi cuộc chơi. Ý nói một yếu tố mới rất quan trọng trong việc giải quyết vấn đề
- Physically impaired (adj): gặp khó khăn về mặt hình thể. Nói giảm nói tránh của “disabled”
→ Nêu ứng dụng của công nghệ và các hệ quả/sự ảnh hưởng tích cực vào đời sống của con người. Hãy nghĩ tới các khía cạnh như kinh tế, xã hội, sức khỏe, môi trường….
2. Why should we restrict the use of mobile phones in public places?
First and foremost, it is for our safety. In many places, cellphones are valuable objects which could invite theft. Therefore, waving your phone in public places can be a bad idea. Second, I think we should refrain from using our phones and be mindful of our surroundings. This is coming from personal experience as I have bumped into others and signs more times than I want to admit.

- To be mindful: để tâm/chú ý

3. How can children be taught to become innovative?
Well, I think most children are naturally curious individuals. Each of them can interpret the world around them in a different way through their own personal experience which could lead to innovative thinking. So, instead of trying to teach them to think in certain ways, we can encourage them to embrace their individuality and innovative thinking will follow.

- To embrace (v): có thể hiểu như xem trọng.
- Individuality (n): tính cá nhân, độc lập
→ Đề xuất các biện pháp có thể giúp trẻ em trở nên “sáng tạo, đột phá”
4. What role should the government play in encouraging innovation?
First and most practically, the state should ensure that scientists and engineers throughout the country have appropriate facilities and resources to allow them to come up with innovations. Second, there should be educational programmes provided by the government where children could participate in, for free, that teach them how to think innovatively.
