Những điều bạn cần biết về IELTS Writing Task 1
Một bài thi IELTS Writing thường sẽ bao gồm hai phần Task 1 và IELTS Writing Task 2. Đối với IELTS Writing Task 1, thí sinh cần viết một bài luận dài ít nhất 150 từ trong vòng 20 phút để mô tả một biểu đồ, bảng hoặc một quy trình. Nhiệm vụ của Task 1 là kiểm tra khả năng tóm lược các ý chính, phân tích và so sánh dữ liệu, dự báo xu hướng hay mô tả cả một quá trình.
Chính vì vậy mà các bạn nên nắm vững Vocabulary For IELTS Task 1 để có thể vận dụng vào bài viết để có thể đạt mức điểm cao nhất có thể bạn nhé.
Một bài IELTS Writing Task 1 bao gồm 4 phần:
- Introduction – Mở bài
- Overview – Khái quát
- Body paragraph 1 – Chi tiết đoạn 1
- Body paragraph 2 – Chi tiết đoạn 2
Introduction & Overview
Ở phần này bạn cần đảm bảo giới thiệu tổng quan về nội dung và nêu xu hướng bao trùm của bảng biểu, sơ đồ cần phân tích.
Với câu giới thiệu, bạn có thể diễn đạt lại đề bài bằng những mẫu câu sau:

Ví dụ:

Ở câu tổng quan (Overview), những từ vựng hữu ích sử dụng cho phần này như:

Ví dụ:
As can be seen, the highest number of passengers used the London Underground station at 8:00 in the morning and at 6:00 in the evening.

Body
Thân bài là phần nội dung chính mô tả biểu đồ, bảng hay quy trình, được chia thành 2 đoạn. Một số từ vựng bạn có thể sử dụng cho câu mở đoạn:

- As (is) shown in the illustration…

Dạng biểu đồ – Chart/Graph
Một số dạng biểu đồ thường gặp trong IELTS Writing Task 1:
Từ vựng miêu tả xu hướng thay đổi
Đối với dạng bài này, nhiệm vụ của bạn là mô tả xu hướng phát triển của những số liệu được cung cấp. Bạn có thể sử dụng những nhóm danh từ động từ chỉ xu hướng tăng giảm như sau:

The expenditure of the office remained constant for the last 6 months but the profit rose by almost 25%.

Từ vựng miêu tả mức độ thay đổi
Bên cạnh sử dụng danh từ hoặc động từ, bạn nên sử dụng thêm tính từ và trạng từ bổ nghĩa rõ thêm về mức độ thay đổi, mức độ xu hướng:

Cấu trúc miêu tả sự thay đổi
- Cấu trúc dùng Verb: S + Verb of trend + Adverb + Data
Ví dụ:
The proportion of applicants from Vietop has significantly climbed, at 65%.
- Cấu trúc dùng Noun:
- S + have/make/experience a rise/fall/increase/decrease/… IN
Ví dụ:
Vietop made a dramatic increase in the percentage of applicants at 65%.
- A/ an + adj + noun + number + was seen + in subject (chủ ngữ) + time period (khoảng thời gian).
Ví dụ:
A dramatic increase to 65% was seen in the proportion of applicants from Vietop in 2021.
- Time period (khoảng thời gian) + witnessed/ saw + a/an +adj + Noun + in + noun phrase.
Ví dụ:
The year 2021 witnessed a significant increase in the proportion of applicants from Vietop, at 65%.
Từ vựng và cấu trúc so sánh
- So sánh nhất: S + is the most/least + Adjective + Noun
Ví dụ:
Pork is the most consumed meat by Vietnamese people.
- So sánh hơn kém: S + is more/less + Adjective + than + Noun
Ví dụ:
Pork is more popular than beef in Vietnam.
- So sánh ngang bằng: S+ is + as + Adjective + as + Noun
Ví dụ:
Pork is as popular as chicken in Vietnam.

Từ vựng và cấu trúc thể hiện sự thay đổi trong cây cối

Dạng quy trình – Process
Đối với dạng bài này, thí sinh cần sử dụng liên tiếp các từ nối để tăng tính liên kết từng câu trong đoạn văn.
Để miêu tả các bước, có thể sử dụng từ vựng và cấu trúc như sau:
- Bước đầu tiên:
First/At first/Firstly/In the beginning/At the beginning of the process, S + V.
- Các bước sau:
Second/Third/Next/After that/ Afterwards/Following this/Subsequently/When/As soon as/Immediately/Just after that, S + V.
- Các bước xảy ra đồng thời:
Simultaneously/At the same time, S + V.
- Bước cuối cùng:
Finally/At the end of the process, S + V.
- Sự kết thúc sau mỗi bước:
After this step/Once this step is completed, S + V.
- Sự lặp lại:
- The cycle/ process then repeats itself.
- The cycle/ process is then repeated.

Ví dụ:
- Firstly, the tomatoes are collected by hand and put in the basket.
- After that, the tomatoes are sorted into good and bad ones.
- The tomatoes need to remove the seeds and skin at the same time.
- Finally, the ketchup is used with hamburgers and fries.
