1. Are you interested in robots?
Yeah, my love for robots stems from the fact that I’m a sci-fi fan. My favourite robots on the widescreen are C-3PO of the Star Wars franchise and Lieutenant Commander Data of Star Trek.

2. Do you like robots to work in your home?
They already have. My parents bought a pair of automated vacuum robots. Sure, they don’t have that humanoid look, but they can clean very well and save us a lot of time. So yes, I like that.

3. Do you want to take a car in which a robot is the driver?
For me, the answer is simple, yes. I’m not great at driving and I feel like robots would do a better job. It will save me time and overall be safer.
4. Will robots replace human beings in the workplace completely?
I don’t see that happening as for many of us, working gives us purposes. So even if we reach a point when all labours can be done by robots, there will still be human workers.

I’m going to tell you about a surprise birthday party that my colleagues arranged for me last month.
I know it is a cliché but when I was growing up, my family was poor, and I never had a proper birthday party, so this one is really special to me.
On that day, I went to work and didn’t suspect a thing as my coworkers acted as if it was a typical day at the office. However, I noticed that toward the end of the day, people tended to avoid me, but I thought it was because they were tired. You know, it was a Friday. Finally, it was time for my shift to end. Out of the blue, the lights of the room turned off.
I saw my friend hurried to my cubicle with a cake and lit candles. Then, I knew what was going on. They sang happy birthday to me and helped me slice the cake. I was so surprised I couldn’t speak for a few minutes later and I kept thanking them repeatedly. Afterward, we went to a restaurant to have a proper dinner.
Of course, I was extremely happy, not just because I had a memorable birthday but also I realised that I had friends who cared about me who went out their way to organise a party despite having a stressful work week. I am thankful to have friends like them.
- To arrange (v): tổ chức
- To suspect (v): nghi ngờ
- Out of the blue: một cách bất ngờ
- Cubicle (n): không gian làm việc/bàn làm việc ngăn bởi vách
- To go out of one’s way: cố làm gì đó (mà có thể là không cần thiết)
→ Đề yêu cầu thí sinh tả một thứ làm cho bản thân thấy bất ngờ và hạnh phúc. Đây có thể hiểu là dạng tả vật và nếu bạn chọn tả một món quà như đồng hồ hay xe đều được. Bạn cũng có thể chọn tả một sự kiện như bài gợi ý. Chọn đối tượng nào thì cũng phải làm rõ hai điều là nó làm bạn bất ngờ và làm bạn vui/hạnh phúc.
Đối với một buổi tiệc sinh nhật bất ngờ, bạn có thể tả theo trình tự thời gian ngắn gọn (trước, trong và sau tiệc). Sau đí, giải thích trực tiếp vì sao nó làm bạn thấy hạnh phúc (dùng ngôn ngữ giải thích như “because”)

1. How do people express happiness in your culture?
Traditionally, when there are important happy events, such as passing an exam, getting the first job, the birth of a baby, many people choose to throw parties in which they invite their relatives and neighbours to celebrate with them. Nowadays, while people still keep the traditional ways, social media has also enabled them to share their happy news online.
- To throw a party: tổ chức một bữa tiệc
- To enable someone to do something: cho phép ai đó làm việc gì đó
→ Câu hỏi yêu cầu người trả trời nêu ra cách người cùng văn hóa của bản thân bày tỏ sự hạnh phúc. Bạn có thể làm như câu trả lời gợi ý, nêu cách truyền thống và cách hiện đại. Để tăng thêm sự thuyết phục, bạn có thể mở rộng bằng cách nêu dẫn chứng cụ thể.

2. Do you think someone’s happiness can affect other people? Why?
Happiness can be contagious, I suppose. From my observation, when someone is genuinely happy, they lift the mood of people around them as well. When you have a happy person working together with you in a team, you may have a more positive outlook when you encounter problems or failures, simply because your happy teammate is there to cheer you up.
- Contagious (adj): có tính lây lan
- Genuinely (adv): một cách chân thành/thật
→ Câu hỏi yêu cầu người trả lời nêu đánh giá về việc liệu sự vui vẻ/hanh phúc của một người có thể ảnh hưởng đến người khác không và nêu nguyên nhân. Bạn có thể trả lời theo hướng có, như câu trả lời gợi ý. Sau đó đưa dẫn chứng cụ thể để vừa trả lời cho vế why vừa làm câu trả lời trọn vẹn hơn.
3. In what ways can people stay happy?
It’s rather difficult to be happy all the time, though eating well and exercising regularly can help you be healthy. A healthy body is crucial for having a happy life. And then, there’s your mental health as well, you need to keep a positive mindset and try to see the silver lining any time you encounter troubles or failures.
