IELTS Writing Task 1
|Task 1: Table below shows the results of a survey that asked 6800 Scottish adults (aged 16 years and over) whether they had taken part in different cultural activities in the past 12 months.|
The given table provides a statistical breakdown of a survey report on Scottish individuals’ involvement in various cultural activities during the previous year.
Overall, it is evident from the table that the percentage of engagement was greater among the youngest age group, with the exception of crafts and cultural purchases.
The age group between 16 and 24 clearly had the largest engagement rate in these activities out of the 6800 Scottish subjects over 16; this varied from 10 percent for computer-based programmes to over a third for dance and associated activities. Visual arts, which accounted for around 30 percent of the group’s interest and was almost twice as high as writing, came in second. In contrast to the older age groups, their participation in the other two activities (crafts and cultural purchases) was relatively inferior (11 percent).
Conversely, the older age groups (25–44 and 4–74) made up larger proportions related to crafts and culture. The average rate of engagement in these activities across these groups was 20 for the older group and 17 for the younger group. In addition to dance and related performances, they were also moderately interested in visual arts (16 percent and 11 percent respectively). Yet, they showed the least interest in the other two pursuits (writing and computer-based).

IELTS Writing Task 2
|Task 2: There are many types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important and should it be preserved or is international music that is heard everywhere nowadays more useful to a society?|
In contemporary society, the sheer amount of music genres is simply overwhelming. This essay would go over how important music is for both therapeutic and recreational purposes, as well as why traditional music is more important than other types of music since it helps individuals connect to their cultural heritage.
It is important for people to listen to music since this improves their spirits and breaks up the monotony of their everyday activities. In addition, it is widely recognised that it is employed as a therapy to cure minor psychological disorders and to reduce anxiety. Furthermore, festivals and festivities would not be complete without loud music, which heightens people’s enthusiasm during these times. For instance, music increases the enjoyment of festivities at various events, such as weddings or birthdays, when individuals dance wildly to the music’s rhythms. It follows that music is essential as a stress reliever and as a way to up the ante during joyful moments.
From a subjective perspective, traditional music is more valuable to a country than foreign music since it reveals its own culture and history. A country’s history and customs would also be connected to through the lyrics of its native songs. For example, the most well-known of Viet Nam’s intangible cultural heritage is a great genre of music called “đờn ca tài tử” that connects the people with the motherland and instils moral values in them. As a result, it is seen as a means of upholding national identity and passing on a deep awareness of its culture to next generations.
To sum up, music is a crucial component of modern life for relieving stress and treating mild mental diseases. The traditional song is more important because it helps people connect to their roots, even though young people also listen to tunes from other countries. Therefore, it cannot be disregarded.
